Countdown begins to Orange iPhone launch

OrangeThere are now seven days until the Apple iPhone 3G and Apple iPhone 3GS models are available on the Orange network.

November 10th is set to see the smartphone become accessible to customers via another provider other than O2.

Orange said it plans to offer the handset online, via Phones4u, Carphonewarehouse and in retail shops.

In addition, it has created "great value" Pay As You Go and Pay Monthly price plans for those who want to have thousands of apps at their fingertips and combine their favourite music collections with their mobile.

According to Orange UK chief executive officer Tom Alexander, the day will mark a milestone for customers.

"We will be matching their enthusiasm with a 3G mobile broadband network that covers more people in the UK than any other operator," he explained.

Ahead of the launch, many media outlets have investigated whether Orange's tariffs will provide worthy competition for O2's.

Electric Pig said the former's "eerily echo" the latter's, while the Guardian surmised that it will offer savings of less than a pound.
