O2 study looks at post-pub behaviour

A new study has shown that more people are emailing their friends and relatives late at night than voice calling.

Conducted by O2, the research looked at behavioural patterns between the hours of 22:00 and 23:00 and noted that less users were talking and more were sending messages.

As this period is traditionally the time when the public are leaving pubs and other venues where alcohol might be on the menu, it was suggested that consumers should be careful about exactly what they are sending.

O2's head of content Antony Douglas warned: "Customers are hungry to chat, gossip, play and Facebook the small hours away on their phones, which might lead to a few embarrassed red faces in the morning."

The study showed 42 per cent of those engaging with their device were sending emails, while 35 per cent were accessing news headlines. Social networking accounted for 33 per cent of handset usage, while 30 per cent were found to be checking the weather.

O2 announced this month that it had added the Samsung Galaxy i7500 to its range of models.

Ever sent a text or email under the influence you later regretted?
