Motorola DROID vs RAZR

An upcoming mobile phone from Motorola has more than just the Apple iPhone 3G S to worry about, if a new article is to be believed.

In a piece for GigaOM this week, Stacey Higginbotham and Om Malik looked at the various traits that make the manufacturer's Android 2.0-enabled DROID worth looking out for.

Although many have suggested this could be the latest gadget to challenge the iPhone, the pair suggested it is one of its predecessors that the touchscreen smartphone will have to outdo.

Having shifted more than 100 million units, the popularity of the Motorola RAZR is noted as a milestone that the DROID will have to surpass.

The mobile was one of the first ultra-slim models on the market and was described by Compete senior associate Miro Kazakoff as a "triumph of form over features".

However, Sanjay Jha, chief executive officer of Motorola Mobile Devices, said the new DROID offers "a rich consumer experience with warp-speed web browsing [and] a mammoth screen".
