New Vodafone system 'boosts home signals'
Posted: 24 June 2009
A new system has been announced by Vodafone that the network claims will offer a solution to those who receive a poor mobile signal in their home.
The carrier states the Access Gateway technology - a small box that can be plugged in to any broadband line - will "significantly" boost the strength of a handset's reception.
In addition to increased reliability, Vodafone explains the new device will also allow consumers to take full advantage of 3G services and prevent them missing important telephone calls.
Commenting on the announcement, consumer director at Vodafone UK Ian Shepherd said: "We are committed to delivering the best, most reliable network and this is another step towards maintaining a seamless service."
The Access Gateway is free on some inclusive price plans and can also be bought outright for £160 - although a monthly fee of £5 is required.
Recent launches by the network include the exclusive HTC Magic, the second device in the UK to use the Google Android platform.
