Motorola launches the Rival

Motorola has announced the launch of a new mobile phone that it claims could be a solid purchase for those who like to text.

The Rival, as it is known, comes with a backlit slide-out qwerty keyboard and fast access to a range of chat and messaging facilities that the manufacturer believes will also make it great for email.

It was noted the Motorola Rival provides the ability to keep users "socially connected, while offering a variety of popular multimedia features" and also boasts a number of other interesting features.

Among these are a 3.5 mm headset jack, microSD card support and an integrated media player, which could be good news for music lovers shopping for a new device.

In addition, a two-megapixel camera has been fitted to the Rival - which comes in either silver or purple.

The phone joins other models in the Motorola range including the ROKR, RAZR and the recently launched Aura.
