Samsung offers new 8mp model – its official

Samsung's rumored eight-megapixel rival to LG's Renoir has been made official, Pocket-Lint reports.

The site notes that it had predicted the South Korean manufacturer would make an announcement with regards such a handset and has confirmed that it has now done so – with the phone expected to be available on November 1st.

The model, which is to be known as the Pixxon – or M8800, will be Samsung's second eight-megapixel camera phone and takes the Renoir's title of being "the world's slimmest phone with this resolution of camera".

It is noted that the Samsung Pixxon will feature a 3.2-inch touchscreen, DivX and Dolby support, as well as a camera that boasts a 16x digital zoom, auto focus, fast-shutter, smile shot, face detection and geo-tagging.

GSM, GPRS, EDGE and 7.2Mbps HSDPA will be available, as will Bluetooth 2.0, USB 2.0, a TV out connection and 200MB of integrated memory, with microSD support for those who need more space.

Previous reports had suggested that Samsung's latest model would go by the name Bresson.
