Mobile phones 'could open up new bingo market'

Mobile phones could be the future of online gambling and bingo playing, one expert has suggested.

According to a spokesman for the Bingo Association (BA), an industry body which aids the licensed bingo industry in the UK, mobile phones have the potential to offer a range of new gaming options to the market.

Stephen Baldwin, communications manager at BA, said the mobile bingo market was "difficult to judge" due to the fact that it was such a new sector, but added that the potential for bringing in new players was clearly there.

"[Mobile bingo] may just open a new market because it provides a new channel for people accessing bingo," he said, adding that mobile bingo was "an exciting development" which could offer up new opportunities.

This month Foxy Bingo announced that it would introduce a new service for mobile phones users allowing them to take full advantage of the game using their handsets.
