BlackBerry Curve 8520 gets 8 out of 10

Research in Motion has received an eight out of ten rating from a reviewer for its new Blackberry Curve 8250 handset.

TrustedReviews gave a positive recommendation for the latest model of the popular smartphone brand, rating the unit highly for its value and design.

Among the key features praised was the new handset's optical trackpad, which was described by the author as "a pleasure to use" and a more than adequate replacement for the trackball seen on older models.

Other attributes singled out for praise include the device's "excellent" built-in keyboard and its battery performance, which allows for three days of medium usage.

T Mobile takes another mobile broadband win

T Mobile has emerged as the most highly-rated provider of mobile broadband services in a new customer satisfaction survey.

A YouGov poll revealed that the German network operator ranked highest in eight out of its 15 categories, with T Mobile services coming top in key categories such as speed, value and ease of use.

This comes after the operator previously ranked highest in YouGov Dongle Tracker reports conducted in April and January.

The results of the poll were welcomed by T Mobile, which stated that they proved the firm's commitment to the provision of straightforward and high-value mobile broadband services.

Mobile phones 'more equipped to handle TV'

Modern mobile phones are better equipped to handle the technology associated with portable television, it has been suggested.

According to a spokesman for Techwatch, a site which provides news and discussion regarding the digital market, such systems could be about to get more popular with consumers.

Brian Turner, executive editor of the site, explained said free-to-air analogue mobile TV may have suffered in the past, but the latest phones have platforms that have addressed the technical requirements of such content.

Opera Mini 'most downloaded app ever'

Mobile phone users across the globe have helped Opera Mini become the most downloaded handset application of all time.

GetJar reports that the web browsing software, which serves as an alternative to packages such as Internet Explorer on Windows-based smartphones, has now been accessed 25 million times.

The site, which provides handset users with an online resource for such products, explained this made Opera Mini the most downloaded facility on any app store.

A spokesman for the firm that created the browser added the relationship between itself and GetJar was integral to the success.

Nokia has unveiled its latest touch phone model that is set to appeal to users with active social lives.

The Nokia 5230 is available in a spectrum of custom colours and is packed with the latest features including A-GPS navigation and the ability to retrieve content from the Nokia Music Store as well as integrating with a whole host of online social networking sites.

Research in Motion's (RIM) Blackberry Curve 8520 is "incredibly approachable", according to the company.

The smartphone features a full-qwerty keyboard that means it is easy for users to access a wide-range of applications, RIM explained, adding another reason to the list of why people might find it a useful consideration for their next handset.

Watch and learn – the new LG GD910 mobile

LG has unveiled one of the UK’s most eagerly anticipated gadgets with the new GD910 mobile phone watch.

According to an early review in Stuff magazine, the phone watch includes a 1.4 inch full colour screen and LG has also included stereo Bluetooth capabilities, with speech recognition and voice commands.

LG Arena shifts over one million units

LG has announced that a mobile phone it launched at the Mobile World Congress this year has gone on to sell over a million units worldwide.

The South Korean manufacturer explained that the KM900 Arena has been extremely popular in various markets and has contributed to a European total of more than five million purchases in the second quarter of 2009.

It was also advised that this figure represents a 35 per cent rise in comparison with the same period last year.

Those with the latest mobile phones may be excited to hear that one of the most eagerly-anticipated films of 2009 is to get a game tie-in.

Gameloft announced this week that it will be adapting James Cameron's Avatar for portable platforms in time for its worldwide December release.

As the director's first non-documentary cinematic work since Titanic - which scooped 11 Oscars at the 1998 Academy Awards - it would be fair to say the film is expected to be a hit.
