RIM announces BlackBerry Bold 9700

Research In Motion (RIM) has announced the launch of a new device that follows on from one of its previous successes.
The company explained that the BlackBerry Bold 9700 smartphone will build on the popularity of its 9000 predecessor, but will offer improvements in multimedia and telecommunications facilities.
It added the new model will be equipped with 3G support, a 3.2-megapixel camera, 256 MB of internal Flash memory expandable to 32 GB with a microSD card, a 624 MHz internal processor and a 2.44-inch display.
In addition to the integrated media player, a 3.5 mm headphone jack will be included along with built-in GPS and Wi-Fi connectivity.

Nokia 5530 'great for those who do not need 3G'

Nokia has added to its range of music-focussed touchscreen mobile phones with a device that one reviewer has singled out for praise.
Mobile Burn's Ricky Cadden looked at one of the latest budget models in the Finish manufacturer's line-up and explained that although it is lacking in 3G, it is overall a solid device.
He said the Nokia 5530 XpressMusic boasts "crystal clear" call quality, while the aesthetics of the model are "eye-pleasing" and feel good in the hand.
Mr Cadden concluded that, with "decent build quality" and a host of useful features, he was able to give the gadget a "highly recommended rating - provided you don't need 3G".

One operator announced details of how it will bring a popular music streaming service to its customers.
According to 3 Mobile, the Google Android-powered HTC Hero will be launched on its network next month on a tariff of £35 per month.
For this, subscribers not only get 750 cross-network minutes and unlimited texts, email, browsing, Facebook and Skype, but also full access to the Spotify Premium.

The rise of the smartphone is being buoyed by a number of different factors, according to one expert.
A spokesperson for Mobile Choice, a magazine and online portal which offers news and reviews on the latest developments in the sector, said growth in this field was "multi-faceted".
Natasha Stokes, editor of the publication, explained that in addition to improvements in handset technology and better value, data-based tariffs, the boom in social networking was key to the popularity of such devices.

A new report has proved how important the latest phones and mobile broadband technology are to the general public, it has been asserted.
Following the publication of a study by Virgin Media that looked at increased anxiety in the absence of web-connected gadgets, a spokeswoman for Stuff Magazine has commented on the issue.

Motorola DEXT vs Android HTC models

A recent article has pitted one of the latest Google Android-powered mobile phones against some of its established peers.
In a piece for Mobile Burn, Michael Oryl looked at the Motorola CLIQ, which is to be known across the UK as the DEXT when it is released in stores.
He explained there were many things to like about the device, but added that previous handsets that use the same Google operating system may currently have the edge of their new rival.

A new fashion-focused handset has been described by one reviewer as a "very striking" addition to its manufacturer's range.
The LG BL40 is the one of the latest handsets to come with the South Korean firm's Chocolate range that an article for Mobile Burn has stated have been in demand since 2006.

Mobile phone users looking to keep their device at full power while on the go may welcome a new partnership.
It has emerged that an international deal will bring a new bag to the market that is equipped with technology designed to charge electricals using the energy of the sun.
US company G24 Innovations revealed this week it would utilise an existing product from Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne of Switzerland that features a solar panel integrated into a travel holdall.

The Sony Ericsson Satio is mobile phone that a new review has said may have been worth the wait.
