This is according to Conrad Longmore, editor of Mobile Gazette, who was asked whether the former will present competition for the latter in the smartphone sector.

Samsung announces 'entertaining' duo

A new set of multimedia-focused mobile phones have been announced by one South Korean manufacture.

According to Samsung, its latest models combine the latest in touchscreen technology with a selection of tools that will keep people entertained while on the go.

The first of the gadgets is the Mythic, which has a 3.3-inch front display with full qwerty keyboard, 3.2-megapixel camera, stereo Bluetooth technology and fast access to social networking.

Those looking to purchase a new handset without a contract may want to take advantage of a new announcement from Vodafone.

It was revealed this week that the operator would boost its range of sim-only offerings, which could also be good news for those who find it difficult giving up a trusty handset.

The HTC Touch2 has been described as well equipped and easy to fit into the pocket by one reviewer this week.

According to Mobile Burn, the device is one that is capable of packing a wide range of "respectable" gadgets and gizmos into a frame that still manages to remain "pocketable".

Five new handsets are coming to the Vodafonepay-as-you-go (PAYG) network ahead of Christmas, it has been announced.

Launched with the gift-giving season in mind, the carrier explained this week that people could expect the new range to all be touchscreen devices with £100 of credit for texts and calls included.
