Since Nokia unveiled its first ever full touchscreen device in October last year, there has been no end of sector commentators offering their opinion on it. But now the 5800 XpressMusic has been with us for over two months, has it lived up to the hype of its big launch?

Windows Mobile 6.5 heads to new phones

With a wide selection of smartphones now available utilising operating systems from the likes of Google and Apple, the latest from Microsoft may have its work cut out in terms of tempting back users.
However, the upcoming Windows Mobile 6.5 will look to improve upon the advances of the Android and iPhone packages when it is made available on a number of devices later this year.

With a number of touchscreen mobile phones currently available from manufacturers including Apple, Samsung, LG and most recently Nokia, one company has decided to launch a new handset that offers the largest screen of its kind.
The Toshiba TG01 boasts a 4.1-inch display with touch interface - that some believe could give the industry's major players a run for their money. With an increasing number of smartphones heading to the market, consumers are now not just faced with a choice of handset features, styles and networks - they must also see which operating system (OS) is going to be right for them.
Although there are only a few choices to make, growth in the top-end mobile phone market - in line with some new OS contenders introduced in the last couple of years - means it is looking increasingly likely user interfaces and integrated software systems will be a major selling point for many people.

Palm Pre goes up against its touchscreen rivals

The latest offering from Palm - named the Pre - is set to be launched in the UK at some point during the second quarter of 2009 and, despite the fact the manufacturer has yet to offer a confirmed release date, the handset is generating a great deal of anticipation in the industry - with some even suggesting it could be the latest phone to position itself as a potential iPhone killer.
